Day & Night short filmanimation

"Day & Night," the short that runs before "Toy Story 3," is definitely the riskiest Pixar short I've seen in recent years. (...) I was taken aback at first -- the slapstick was broad, and one of the character's cat-call of a bikini babe struck me as politically incorrect -- before I started to catch on to what director Teddy Newton was trying to do. The second time I saw "Day & Night," I was able to thoroughly enjoy it for what it was. A well-conceived, well-edited attempt to combine forms and create something new.
