- Synopsis
- TV Series (1964-1966). 2 Seasons. 70 Episodes. At 1313 Mockingbird Lane in Mockingbird Heights, stood a cobweb-covered, musty gothic mansion. The residents considered themselves just a normal, everyday American family, but to neighbors - and viewers alike - they were just a little bit unusual. Herman, the man of the house, was seven feet tall and had a striking resemblance to the Frankenstein Monster. His beautiful wife, Lily, looked very much like a female Vampire; Eddie, their son, looked like he was in the midst of changing from a boy to a werewolf; Spot, the family's' pet dinosaur, lived under the staircase and was always on hand to add some fun to the household (Fred Gwynn provided the voice of Spot's roar) and 350-year-old Grandpa (who could change into a bat) could have passed for an aging Count Dracula. They were concerned with about their niece, Marilyn, who looked somewhat strange to them but, to an outsider, was the only "normal-looking" one of the group. The effect that their appearances had on the rest of the world was always predictable, often hilarious and occasionally poignant. Herman, appropriately worked at the Gateman, Goodbury & Graves funeral home and was always on the lookout for a better job.

"A delightful take on family values, 'The Munsters' lived in a musty, old gothic home...They were a warm, loving family who just happened to be--well, er--monsters."
-
"None of this silliness would work without the cast of immensely talented comic actors with which 'The Munsters' was blessed."
-
"Aside from the fact that it embraces the traditional gender roles that were typical of the era, The Munsters is still clean, non-problematic family entertainment."
