Synopsis: OVA Mini-series (1988 - 1989). 6 Episodes. The debut production of Visionary Director Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Legendary anime Studio GAINAX, this 6 sepisode series began as a "Super Robot" parody of popular tennis anime "Aim for the Ace". It quickly became clear that the series was, at it's heart, an incredibly sentimental piece of specualtive science fiction focusing on the (near) realites of time-dilation, the horrors of war, child soldiering and the nature of love and sacrifice.

Although dated by today's standards, Gunbuster is rightly regarded by many as a landmark production that still informs the way Sci-Fi is handled in the anime industry today.
