- Synopsis
- Ten years after the sudden death of her husband Sean, Anna has agreed to marry Joseph. At their engagement party, Clifford, who was Sean’s best friend, and his wife Clara are among the well-wishers. When they arrive, Clara decides their gift is not properly wrapped and sends Clifford up to the party alone, but she leaves the building for Central Park, unaware that a young boy is following her. A few days later, at Anna’s mother’s birthday celebration, the same young boy shows up and requests to speak privately with Anna. She indulges the child and he declares that he is her dead husband Sean and warns her not to marry Joseph. A stunned Anna takes the boy downstairs, where the doorman confirms that he knows the child. His name is Sean. Sean begins to write to Anna. Joseph and Anna order him to leave her alone, but the boy calmly refuses. At Sean’s own suggestion, he is quizzed about details of the dead Sean’s life, and the child’s knowledge is uncanny. More unnerving still is the intensity and certainty of his love for Anna. Could this child truly be Anna’s husband, returned to her?
