Synopsis

In a village in the Spanish Levante, lives Justo, the priest. He is well liked by all the neighbors for his way of helping others. Agapito, the communist mayor, has a daughter, who gets pregnant by her boyfriend, the son of Santiago, the town doctor, who is from the Alianza Popular and thinking that her father might kill him, says that the child she is expecting is the priest's child. Justo gets mixed up in all this mess, which Matilde, the pregnant girl, tells him in confession, tying him hand and foot to defend himself. Justo, harassed by Agapito, the Bishop and the whole town, decides to hang up his habits, but at the last moment and with the help of girls from the town, he manages to bring the truth to light...
