Synopsis

Keisuke and his wife Mizawa are abalone fishers in a small village. A local contractor tries to buy up the land in order to build a "leisure land" (that is, a theme park or a resort). However, that is just a ruse - the real, hidden objective is to build a nuclear power plant. One man who doesn't want to sell is killed by thugs (just plain, ordinary thugs - no "right-wing extremists"). Keisuke happens to see the murder, so they off him too, and when Mizawa survives the attack they promptly put the blame for her husband's murder on her. Keisuke's former best friend, Shohei, helps her find a place to lie low on a nearby island while she tries to find out who really was responsible and take her revenge. But Shohei is also the contractor's son, so his loyalties are divided. The real scum, of course, are the corrupt politicians, lawyers and power company executives behind the whole scam, and in an ironic twist, it is revealed that the contractor is really just a small, local pawn in their hands that they wouldn't think twice about sacrificing. But in the end, they all get their comeuppance.
