Synopsis: Marcus was in the past a cruel Roman emperor who slayed friends, foes and family. At the end, his own conspiracies brought him down and he left mortal life to become one of the "inmortals". A race apart, made up of some dozen warriors fighting each other for supremacy: there can be only one. Colin McLeod is another of them and he knew and fought Marcus long ago, and he keeps doing so in the future, because the former emperor is now the lord and owner of New York, which he has ravaged and terrorised.
