- Synopsis
- During World War I, young Johanna Gabathuler, a nurse from Davos, a Swiss town with a famous sanatorium, becomes pregnant by a German soldier. To maintain her honor, her family forces her to give birth in secret and, when her daughter is born, they take her away from her. In trying to get her back, Johanna becomes involved in a conspiracy of espionage at the hands of her patient and mentor, Countess Ilse Von Hausner (Jeanette Hain), a wealthy, divorced and independent woman, admitted to this hospital.
