- Jacqueline McNeil (Jacqueline Ryan) is the daughter of Belfast shipyard worker Mike McNeil (John Gregson). However the worker's employment is compromised by his severe fear of heights. Following dismissal from his job, he finds comfort in the bottle. All seems hopeless until Jacqueline breaks through her father's depression and helps him to regenerate. An adaptation of the novel 'A Grand Man', by Catherine Cookson.
