- Synopsis
- The film is an adaptation of the novel by Emile Zola. The story revolves around Pauline Quenu, a young woman who loves life, daughter of Lisa Marcquart and the butcher Quenu. Orphaned at the age of 10, Pauline is taken by the family Chanteau, her bourgeois cousins. Turned into a rich heiress, she sees Mrs. Chanteau and her son Lazare stay with her fortune. But she does not care and continues to exist peacefully with a smile.
