- In 1853, at the end of the Edo Period, Japan opened up after years of self-imposed isolation. It is believed that an enormous amount of the government's gold was buried by Tokugawa Government in Mt. Akagi in Japan. [Mizuno's famiry] In 1886, a former samurai Tomoyoshi Mizuno was left a legal will by a man who was suspected to have taken part in hiding the Tokugawa treasure. The will said 'The burred treasure in Akagi is not a made-up story. The amount of the treasure there is 3.6 million ryo [roughly 350 billion dollars]'. Mizuno invested a vast amount of his wealth to buy Mt. Akagi. Since then, Mizuno's family has been excavating the hidden gold for 3 generations, 120 years. [This film] At Mt. Akagi, Tomoyuki Mizuno was into a government gold excavation project as a 3rd generation owner.
