- Synopsis
- Happy Gilmore was a fanatical field hockey player and now has no goals in his life. When his girlfriend dumps him and his mother gets kicked out of the apartment she lives in for not paying the rent, he decides to take up golf in professional tournaments in hopes of raising enough money to turn his situation around. It turns out that Happy has a very powerful swing that sends the ball 400 yards away. In addition, due to his crazy temperament, he begins to cause a furor among the media for his extravagant antics on the golf courses.

- Critics' reviews
-
-
"Tells the story of a violent sociopath. Since it's about golf, that makes it a comedy"
-
"The real surprise is that it's a lot of fun, with Sandler becoming more personable as the film progresses, and a couple of truly side-splitting scenes"
