- Synopsis
- This film is based on the memoir of Beverly Donofrio, which spans a 20-year period from ages 15 to 35. Bev (Barrymore) has big plans of moving to New York to become a writer. But this teen from a middle-class family, who is sassy, funny, rebellious and boy-crazy hits a hard place when she gives birth to a son, and gets married to the father (Zahn). Still determined to get her high school diploma and go on to college she works diligently to save money so that one day she will accomplish her dreams. Her desires are once again thwarted when she discovers her husband is a drug addict and has spent all her hard earned savings. Bev soon becomes a single mother who will have to work harder than ever before to achieve her goals.
